Weight problems have reached unprecedented levels in Estonia. According to a study by the Health Development Institute, more than half of Estonians are obese or overweight. We are publishing a candid and inspiring confession on this topic, which may help find the way to healthy eating.

I am a 40-year-old woman, a mother of two wonderful children, and a wife. I’m sharing my story with you about when I was overweight and the reasons why I decided to start losing weight. I hope that my story helps at least one person realize that being overweight is harmful to health. It is a sneaky disease that makes you biologically older and robs your health. I cannot speak for all overweight people, so I will only talk about my own experience.

How I Became Overweight

My journey as an overweight person started when long and exhausting workdays ended with late-night eating binges, often at the expense of sleep. For me, it wasn’t a problem to eat a bag of chips, a chocolate bar, or a liter of ice cream in front of the TV in the evening. I had become an emotional eater, as it helped relieve my daily stress. Unnoticeably, I gained nearly 30 extra kilos, which I initially managed to hide with larger clothes.

The Weight Loss Myth: My Overweight Doesn’t Make Me Sick

I convinced myself that being overweight wasn’t bad for my health. I considered it more of a cosmetic issue. Instead of taking the elevator, I always chose the stairs, trying to prove to myself that walking to the third floor wasn’t a problem for me. When I reached the top, I hid my heavy breathing with a smile. That’s why I always seemed to my colleagues like a cheerful and healthy person. In reality, however, I was unknowingly sitting on a ticking time bomb.

When the Body Says “Enough”

The first signs of health deterioration didn’t take long to appear. Frequent viral illnesses put life on pause too often. Worsening sleep deprivation caused fatigue, and my energy levels were below any reasonable measure. My fuse had gotten really short, and I got irritated even by the smallest things. My relationships with loved ones worsened, and I developed depression. As if that wasn’t enough, one fine day I was diagnosed with diabetes. Being overweight had drained my health bank.

My Turning Point

At the beginning of the story, I said that I am a 40-year-old woman and a mother of two children. My youngest goes to kindergarten. One day, when I went to pick her up from kindergarten, her new classmate thought I was her grandmother. Me, a grandmother!!!

It was time to take a good look in the mirror and face the truth. What do you think, did I dare to do it? I felt offended by what was said. Anger that I had let my health go, embarrassment in front of my family, and fear looking at the future. That day, it became clear to me that I could not continue this way.

Weight Loss Is a Marathon

The journey to a lighter and healthier life is not a sprint, but a marathon. Take it one day at a time and congratulate yourself for every kilo lost. But be ready, because the desire to nibble something can hit even the most passionate weight-losser. I, too, occasionally have small setbacks, but I stay on track thanks to Liverta Forte. Liverta Forte contains ginseng extract, which prolongs the feeling of fullness and helps me say “no” to my evening snacks and excess weight.

I Won!

Now, looking back, I can count several struggles from that time that I either didn’t notice or thought were normal. Since I had been heavily overweight for years, I didn’t know what a normal body should be capable of. Today, I sleep well, have a much stronger immune system, and enjoy life. I cherish the quality time spent with my family and know that I will be needed even years from now!

Know that the best day to take control of your health was yesterday, but tomorrow you will wish you had started today!
